Beauty secrets of Soy

One of my favorite drinks is soy milk. Soy is said to contain many high quality proteins, fibers, and isoflavones. The dietary intake of soy may reduce cholesterol and lower risk of heart disease. But did you know that soy has many great beauty benefits too? Yes, it has a number of positive effects on the skin and some skincare products have soy as one of their ingredients.

Soy is a member of the pea family and has been very popular in Southeastern Asia such as China and Japan. No wonder the Chinese and Japanese have both healthy body and skin. It is one of the world’s major food crops today and they can be processed into oil, milk, tofu, and soy protein. Since soy contains nutrients and proteins, many people use soy on skin as a beauty enhancer. By using soy on skin, it acts as a moisturizer to soften, smooth, and even out skin tones. It contains aglycones which promise the improvement of aging skin, and diminishing of fine lines and wrinkles. Soy also contains vitamin E which can help renew dead skin cells and promotes collagen production. Creams that contain soy are great for soothing and reversing sun damages.

One way to use soy on the skin is by making a soy mask. First by crushing the soy beans into powder form and add water to make it like a paste. Spread the paste on the face and let it sit for 10-15 minutes. This will let the paste to absorb excess oil on your skin, leaving it smooth and toned. You can always mix in other natural ingredients such as eggs, honey, or oatmeal to make the mask for a deeper enhancement of the beauty effects. Another way is to use soy milk to wash your face.
